Lynwood Baptist Church is relatively young, just 45 years old. In our
brief history though, there is much to be thankful for and many to thank
as we look back. These are some of the highlights of the seasons of Lynwood…

1959:
Twenty-seven people commit to begin a new church called Third Baptist
Church. |
1959 – A Time of Beginning:
Twenty-seven people commit to begin a new church called Third Baptist
Church.
1962 – A Time of Foundation:
The first service at Lynwood and Randol is held on March 4th.
1965 – A Time of Rebirth:
The church is renamed “Lynwood Baptist” after becoming a
mission of First Baptist Church of Cape.
1972 – A Time of Independence:
Lynwood constitutes as an independent congregation on August 13th.

| 1995: Twenty-four acres are purchased for a new church location on Lynwood Hills Drive. |

1976 – A Time of Growth:
A new education building is added.
1995 – A Time of Vision:
Twenty-four acres are purchased for a new church location on Lynwood
Hills Drive.
1996 – A Time of New Beginnings:
Groundbreaking ceremonies are held on November 3rd with 609 in attendance.
1998 – A Time of Celebration:
Almost 1,000 attend the first worship service on April 19th in our new
building.

faithful volunteers have donated time and money to add to
our current facilities. |
2002 – A Time of Expansion:
A new education building, including an expanded office suite, is completed
and dedicated.
2003/2004 – A Time of New Vision:
Seventeen acres is purchased to allow for future growth. A deed-burning
ceremony held on May 30, 2004 celebrated the pay-off on the 17 acres.
2005 – A Time to Step Forward:
Day by day the landscape is changing at Lynwood as trucks fill the valley
between the church and Kingshighway. One day soon a new road will pave
the way to a greater access to our campus. A new sign will also beckon
drivers to enter. In the last three years much has been added to our
current facilities. Many faithful volunteers have donated time and money
to provide the following:

are grateful to all who have had a part in shaping the history
of Lynwood Baptist Church. |

- A beautiful Pavilion with tables for 400 people, fans and grills.
- A new shed to house our bus, construction materials, and the
Care and Share ministry items.
- A new playground with a separate area for toddlers.
- Additional parking spaces.
From it’s beginnings until today, our church has seen God’s
perfect timing on the path to maturity. Faithful members, godly leaders,
and dedicated shepherds have followed God’s leadership in each
step. We are grateful to all who have had a part in shaping the history
of Lynwood Baptist Church.
